Kamla Nehru Public School is pleased to announce that 37 students of grade 7 C are taking part in an International Project "Climate Action" under the able guidance of the Principal Ms.P.K.Dhillon. This project is organized by KOEN TIMMERS,MIEExpert spannig 260 schools in 69 countries. It's a 4-week project, which started on 2nd October,2017 and would be over on 28th October ,2017. In the first week, the topic of research was "What is Climate Change"? in the second and third week topics were "causes and effects in your own country" for the climate change and "measures to overcome from this problem of climate change" respectively. In the fourth week students will attend Skype calls with the participating schools. The Principal Ms.P.K.Dhillon said that it's a huge platform for the students to discuss and explore their views about climate change worldwide. She further said the magic in the classroom is now a collaborative movement for the entire school where in each class has joined hands to support grade 7 C. This project has become school project now.
The school celebrated Van Mahotsav Day on 29th July 2017 with great enthusiasm. It was organized to make the society aware of the moral responsibility it needs to shoulder to take care of the environment. The Chief Guest , Mr. Mohammad Tayyab, (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala, Ms. Jyoti Bala Mattu, SDM Phagwara, Mr. I.K.Sardana, president school Managing Committee, the school Principal Ms. P.K.Dhillon, Mr.Malkiat Singh Raghbotra, eminent citizen of Phagwara and members of Environmental Club Phagwara graced the occasion with their presence. After the warm welcome tree plantation programme was undertaken by the prominent personalities in the school premises. The Chief Guest presented saplings to the students who had their birthdays during this week. The celebration of Van Mahotsav was a grand success
The school organized Panel Discussion on UNO Sustainable Development Goals in collaboration with Jay Cee Elite Phagwara on 14th September, 2017. There were five panels in which 40 teachers took part and discussed about SDGs through different topics. The topics were-we the people take #action4SDGs , good health and good sense are two of Life's greatest blessings, solution to sustainable world is quality education, the greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it, how do you sing to love? How is women portrayed in love songs? Two members from JC also participated as a member of the Panel discussion. There were three judges to judge the top two Panels out of five. The worthy judges were Ms. Vimple, Asstt. Prof. KNC of education for women, Mrs.Priya Chawla, the school counselor, JC Mr.Rajneesh Mittal. The school Principal Ms.P.K.Dhillon congratulated all the panelists for their wonderful performance.
"Microsoft Campaign- Teaching the Sustainable Development Goals" Guest Speaker- Ms.P.K.Dhillon, MIEExpert, British Council School Ambassador, Validated BC Trainer for Core skills. It is a matter of pride to share that the Principal Ms.P.K.Dhillon has participated in the "Microsoft Campaign - Teaching the Sustainable Development Goals" as the Guest Speaker on 11th August 2017. It was one hour webinar in which the Principal Ms.P.K.Dhillon talked about SDGs, its importance in present education system and its implementation in the KNPS. This webinar was attended by the educators from all over India.
The school celebrated 44th World Environment Day, which is designed to encourage awareness and action for the protection of the global environment. On June 2, 2017, The Principal Ms.P.K.Dhillon , along with grade 7 students planted saplings in the school garden and spread awareness to save fast depleting natural resources. On June 5, 2017, students celebrated World Environment day during summer camp. They participated in creative activities and made beautiful paintings with fallen leaves while showcasing their awareness about conserving nature.
The School organized Learning market Place for the students of Grade XI and Grade XII on 20.5.17. Nearly 450 students participated in this Mega Event. The Chief Guest was Mr. Vikas Khanna from Microsoft Gurgaon. The Guest of Honor were Mr.Uppal, Mr.Ashwani, Mr.Ashok, eminent citizens of Phagwara and Ms.Shweta, representing KNPS Kaho, partners in education. Students showcased various Microsoft Applications such as Geogebra, Songsmith, Sway and MS Powerpoint through their exhibits. The focus of all the exhibits and Models were UNO Sustainable Development Goals. Mr.I.K.Sardana, president, school managing committee was happy to see techy students.
Parents, Visitors and students and teachers of neighbouring schools were invited to witness the research of the children. Everyone took the Pledge to make themselves and their Children Cyber Smart.
34 students of Grade VIII C interviewed people in their neighbourhood about Child Labour. A questioner was prepared to know the views of the community about the social evil i.e. child labour. Each child interviewed 2 people in their neighbourhood.
SDG Carnival was organised in the Knps Phagwara. 70 students of Grade LKG and Nursery danced energetically on the song 'The more we get together' to promote SDG Goal No. 5-"Gender Equality". Students & Parents enjoyed a the entire performance.
